Project

The name of the project is We R Culture and has a duration of  9 months and is about young people from two different countries;  Malta and United Kingdom working together in new territories using their creativity through dance and music to empower and help educate other younger people, people at risk of social exclusion and young people with fewer opportunities; whilst learning about each others cultures. 

The Malta group will go over to the Uk and expose through performing arts our traditional folklore music and dance to young people with behavioral problems by leading a creative workshop about traditional Maltese dance and music. The Malta group also aims to visit a minimum of one primary/secondary school and one group of at risk youth group here in Malta and Uk.

The Uk group will also come over to Malta and together with the Maltese participants create and design a combined dance performance together.This will be a chance for the Malta group and UK group to empower each other with their performing creativity and learn about each other's culture. Then the Malta group and the Uk group together will lead a creative workshop with at least one group of young people at risk of exclusion or young people in the community with fewer opportuntites.

This whole process will equip Malta group and the UK group with a variety of employability skills such as planning, organisation, leadership, public speaking, dance skills, dance instructing skills, idea generation and brainstorming skills. This project will empower the young people to be innovative and creative with the resources they have and be creative about how they pass on their skills to other people. The project promotes social cohesion and youth leadership by the 2 groups taking control and sharing their skills with other young people within their community.
